Utah man charged with soliciting sex from teen lands in jail after reporting alleged Craigslist scam to FBI

54 year old Nicholas Deelstra, an employee with the Office of Rehabilitation in the state Department of Workforce Services office in North Logan, Utah, met a 16-year-old boy on Craigslist last month, and they made plans for the kid to come over to his house to have sex.

But the boy never showed up. The next day a person claiming to be the teen’s father began messaging him, “demanding he send money to cover car repairs because” the boy damaged the family‘s vehicle while trying to go meet up with the man.” Deelstra thought it was a scam and contacted the FBI. He was charged with third-degree felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and a variety of other charges.
