HAVING sex often while getting older improves brain function, a study found.
Those who still have weekly romps performed better in verbal and visual tests.
Researchers studied 73 people aged between 50 and 83 who filled in questionnaires on how regularly they had sex over 12 months.
Their vocabulary and ability to see objects in their mind’s eye and the spaces between them were then measured.
Those among the 28 men and 45 women having more sex had higher scores, Coventry and Oxford universities found.
Similar studies previously found older people who were sexually active scored better than those who were celibate but did not look at how often they had nookie.
The team called for research into whether the link is biological.
Coventry’s Dr Hayley Wright said: “We need to look at what impact sex can have on those aged 50 and over.”
Sex made no difference to attention or memory.
