I love fish. I love aquariums. I love the river. I love lakes. I love the ocean. I have a big tattoo of a Sand Tiger Shark on my left knee. I have never walked into a pet store and thought, “I need these fish so bad that I am going to stuff some of them in my shorts!” That is precisely what Cruz Orlando Garcia Jr. thought when he entered Pet Safari in Clearwater, Florida. His accomplice, Crystal Dixon, distracted the store clerk and Garcia got to stuffing!
“The boyfriend came to this fish tank over here, pointed at a fish and said, ‘Oh, that’s a really cool fish’ and then ran out the door,” Kayla Kraut, the store employee working during the robbery, told WFLA-TV. “I immediately went to where I saw them last, and I noticed there were droplets of water coming from the tank. I knew there was missing fish.
According to reports, Garcia stole Electric Blue Acaras and Blue Ram Cichlids which is funny if you know fish because he stuffed them in his pants and both of those fish are aggressive and territorial. The store clerk took down Garcia’s license plate number and turned it over to authorities. He was arrested on January 19th but the fish were never recovered. Garcia was charged with Petty theft but has since been released from jail. Also, there is no word on whether or not he thought they were sucker fish.
I’ll see myself out now…
