Feb. 2, 2012 9:25 am
A Zamboni operator in Minnesota is being thrown in the penalty box for allegedly being drunk on the job. According to the "Minneapolis Star Tribune," the 34-year-old man was arrested for DUI on Monday while cleaning the ice at an Apple Valley skating rink. Police were called after the man was seen driving erratically and crashing the Zamboni up against the boards. The man reportedly failed several field sobriety tests and was taken to police headquarters for a blood-alcohol test. The results of the test haven't been revealed, and the man has not yet been formally charged. Dude this takes the cake!
Powerball Jackpot Soars Without Wednesday Winner
Feb. 2, 2012 9:11 am
The Powerball jackpot is now up to 200-million dollars. Last night's drawing failed to produce a grand prize winner. Powerball has made some changes recently, raising ticket prices from one to two dollars and getting rid of some ball numbers. That in turn has changed the overall odds of winning. Now your chances of hitting the jackpot are roughly one in 175 million. Prior to the changes, the odds were closer to one in 195 million. The next Powerball drawing will be held Saturday. I haven't played in quit some time. It looks like I'll have to buy a ticket!
Punxsutawney Phil Predicts Six More Weeks Of Winter
Feb. 2, 2012 9:09 am
On this Groundhog Day, Punxsutawney Phil is predicting there will be six more weeks of winter. He emerged from his burrow early today and saw his shadow. Phil's handlers say the critter's predictions have always been correct. Observing Groundhog Day dates back to 1887. It stems from beliefs associated with Candlemas Day during early Christianity in Europe. Well Let me explain that by the second week in march it always starts getting nice around here. I have went out to spring training in Arizona the 3rd week in march to "get away" from winter and out of the how many plus years we've went the weather here is so mild when we're gone that people usually call me up to laugh that I left the week the weather got nice.

"X Factor" Fans Not Thrilled With Changes, Will Miss Paula Most
Feb. 1, 2012 11:59 am
"The X Factor" might have to work hard to win back an audience. The show announced major changes this week, including the departures of judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones. As the Fox reality series undergoes an overhaul, 45-percent of the respondents in an AccessHollywood.com poll say that with Paula, Nicole, and Steve gone they don't expect to be tuning in when "The X Factor" returns for its second season. Well once again I am not even part of this poll because I never watched the show in the first place.
NFL Control Over "Super Bowl" Name Even Extends To Churches
Feb. 1, 2012 8:54 am
Every year the warning comes from the NFL to people holding Super Bowl parties: you can't use the words "Super Bowl." The league says that even extends to churches who want to hold parties. Churches aren't allowed to charge admission to watch the game, but are allowed to take up a collection. Those who use the "Super Bowl" trademark instead of the term "Big Game" run the risk of the league crashing their party and shutting it down.

Pfizer is recalling about a million packets of pills because they may not contain enough active ingredient to prevent pregnancy. U.S. home prices keep falling, and so does homeownership. The Census Bureau reports homeownership fell to 66-percent in the fourth quarter of last year, continuing a seven-year drop from a peak of more than 69-percent in the fourth quarter of 2004. Home prices fell one and-a-third percent from October to November. Well it used to be that everyone believed have equity was the key to life. Now Most people don't want that kinda commitment/debt.

German Rolling Stones Museum Criticized Over Urinals
Jan. 31, 2012 10:05 am
A Rolling Stones museum in northern Germany is drawing complaints over the men's room facilities. "The Los Angeles Times" says women are upset about the urinals, which are based on the Stones' famous lips and tongue logo modeled after frontman Mick Jagger's mouth. However, the tongue is missing from these structures, which is the problem one woman says she has with the urinals. Roda Armbruster tells Hamburg's NDR network that she'd be OK with them if the tongue were included, but without it the receptacles simply look like a woman's open mouth -- not Jagger's -- which she finds demeaning. One local official says roughly a dozen women have complained about the urinals, but Rolling Stones Fan Museum founder Ulrich Schroeder doesn't plan to make any changes to the bathroom. He calls the urinals "art" that don't represent a man's or a woman's mouth, and adds that they're "staying."

Jan. 31, 2012 9:41 am
Steven Colbert's Super PAC is raising some serious cash. The comedian's Super PAC, entitled "Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow," filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission saying it has raised more than a million dollars in donations. On the paperwork, Colbert is quoted as saying "How you like me now, F.E.C? I'm rolling seven digits deep! I got 99 problems but a non-connected independent-expenditure-only committee ain't one!" Colbert's Super PAC is meant to highlight the Supreme Court's decision for unlimited corporate campaign contributions.
School dress code
Jan. 30, 2012 9:43 am
Starting today, wearing a certain type of boot to school will get you put in detention in one school district. A suburban Philadelphia school district is banning the wearing of sheepskin boots to middle school classes. Students in the Pottstown schools have been using the boots to conceal cell phones, which are not permitted. This is by far the second worst "fashion trend" in my mind just a couple style points behind Capris. Next thing you know the kids will be wearing uniforms to school.
Our Iranian relationship
Jan. 30, 2012 9:39 am
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says Iran isn't far from developing a nuclear weapon. He told CBS' "60 Minutes" the U.S. will take whatever steps are necessary to stop Iran if the U.S. learns it's developing a nuclear weapon. When Panetta was asked if those steps include military action, he said quote, "There are no options that are off the table." Mean while, Iran's oil minister says his country is poised to cut off oil sales to some countries. The oil chief did not say when sales would be stopped, or which countries would be affected. There's been talk of Iran's parliament passing a law to ban oil sales to the European Union to preempt an EU boycott of Iranian oil.
