Having more sex could improve your memory

There are plenty of good reasons why you should have more sex — and scientists have just added another one.
Getting frisky between the sheets a couple of times a week can help improve your memory and boost your brain power.
Researchers from the University of Wollongong in Australia found sexually active middle-aged couples performed better on memory tests compared to their sexless peers.
The sex habits, diets and sleeping patterns of 6,000 adults over the age of 50 were tracked for two years.
The study found overwhelming evidence that middle-aged couples who engaged in sexual activity had better memories. Younger couples who were sexually active also had better memories, but the correlation between sex and memory faded in older couples.
“Decline in memory performance over time was unrelated to sexual activity or emotional closeness during partnered sexual activity,” study leader Mark Allen said, according to the U.K. Sun.
The reason sex helps boost memory is that it stimulates the growth of neurons in the hippocampus – the area of the brain that is used for episodic and spatial memory tasks, researchers said.
