A Naples man accused of punching and throwing tacos at his ex-girlfriend after intimate revelations was arrested, according to sheriff’s records.
Joseph Sabino, 28, was jailed on a domestic battery charge after the Sept. 1 incident in Stuart.
A Martin County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a shopping plaza in the 3500 block of Southeast Federal Highway for a domestic disturbance.
A witness said she saw a man and woman arguing and the woman had injuries. The witness noted a vehicle with a Mississippi tag left the parking lot.
Investigators found a vehicle with a Mississippi tag at an area gas station, and talked to a 32-year-old woman who had swelling to her face.
She said she was in the backseat as her ex-boyfriend – Sabino — drove. She said Sabino grew upset when she told him she received a sexual favor from another male.
She said Sabino turned around and started punching her in the face. She “stated Sabino also began throwing tacos at her and hitting her with them,” a report states.
She said when they got to the shopping plaza, Sabino went into a grocery store and she drove away.
Investigators found Sabino at the shopping plaza. He said they argued and “he shoved a taco in her face,” records show. He denied punching her in the face.
“Sabino stated they argued about other males and females they were having sexual relations with,” the report states.
The woman and Sabino both had food on their shirts, which they said came from the tacos.
Sabino, of Naples, was taken to the Martin County Jail.
