As if sex weren’t filled with enough potential hazards on its own, one woman in England is alleging that her bed is responsible for shooting her out of bed and paralyzing her.

According to the BBC, Claire Busby is suing Beds Are Uzzz (!) for making a defective product after she flew from her the mattress while having sex with her partner:

She told the court she “swung her legs” from underneath her, before lying back on the bed.

At that point, she claims, the bed gave way and she toppled off the end, landing on her head.

She said: “I spun around, I put my hand down and then I felt like I was catapulted off the back of the bed.

“I fell to the side and heard what felt like a spring in my body snap.”

Busby had only had the bed for about a week before it turned on her, and attributes the incident to the fact that several parts of box spring were missing. The manufacturer denies this vigorously, detailing for the judge the mechanics of the “sex act” Busby had been performing and how her tumble was not the bed’s fault. I assume there were graphics. From the Daily Mail:

Explaining the dynamics of the accident, he went on: ‘She had been performing a sex act and, thereafter, she sat up with the intention of swinging her legs forward underneath her – and lying on her back with feet towards the headboard and her head towards the end of the bed.

‘Her case is that, having taken the weight off her body through her buttocks, she lay back with the expectation that the mattress would support the weight of her upper torso and her head and shoulders.
